Rachal Kohrman is the
founder and facilitator of Leaping Literacy, a program designed to
engage children in the world of books through the use of art, drama,
and movement. Recently featured in the Miami Herald, she utilizes
cutting-edge techniques in her programs that closely mirror the concept
of multiple intelligences, developed by Harvard professor Howard
Gardner.
Ms. Kohrman is a Florida certified teacher, currently teaching 1st
grad in the Miami-Dade County public school system at Eneida M. Hartner
Elementary School. She has been invited to lead storytelling events
and workshops at Barnes & Noble, Books & Books, local public
libraries, churches, community centers, and special events.
Ms. Kohrman received her Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Psychology
and Theatre at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. She then
completed her Master's degree in Elementary Education in Exceptional
Student Education at Barry University.
The combination of Rachel Kohrman's teaching experience
and diverse educational background fosters the innovative nature of
the Leaping
Literacy program. She has the unique ability to transform words into
animation, characters into companions, and dreams into reality through
the exciting world of children's literature.
